EarthPulse: An Open Source Climate and Disaster Data Integration Platform
Abstract
Climate resilience planning is often challenged by fragmented, inaccessible, and non-standardized data from diverse sources such as satellite feeds, weather stations, and emergency services. These data silos hinder the ability of local governments, researchers, and communities to effectively assess infrastructure vulnerability and prepare for climate-related disasters. This paper introduces EarthPulse, an open-source web-based platform that integrates real-time and historical climate data with infrastructure and disaster risk information into a centralized and interactive interface. It pulls in data from trusted sources like IMD, MOSDAC, and NIDM, plus third-party APIs such as Open Weather Map. Then, it runs this information through machine learning algorithms to rate risks and predict. TensorFlow intervenes to generate live scores for wildfire and flood risks. The key weather details are observable on the dashboard. With Fast2SMS, the system can send instant alerts. The model provides interactive visuals, local predictions, real-time alerts, and smart tools to help people make better decisions. Planners and emergency teams receive information from the platform, enabling communities to prepare for and reduce climate-related disasters.
