Abstract

The increasing complexity of consumer disputes and limited accessibility to legal resources often hinder individuals from seeking justice in a timely manner. To address this challenge, this project proposes the development of an AIBased Legal Support System for Empowering Consumer Justice. The system leverages Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Machine Learning techniques to provide consumers with an interactive chatbot capable of interpreting complaints, identifying relevant consumer rights, and suggesting appropriate legal remedies under the Consumer Protection Act. It assists users by guiding them through the process of filing complaints, help create preliminary legal documents, and offering case-based recommendations from past judgments. Designed with multilingual support particularly in regional languages such as Tamil. The system ensures inclusivity and accessibility for a diverse user base. By automating legal assistance at the preliminary stage, the proposed solution reduces dependency on legal professionals for basic guidance, promotes awareness of consumer rights, and accelerates dispute resolution. This AI-driven approach aims to bridge the justice gap, empower consumers, and contribute to a more transparent, efficient, and citizen-centric legal ecosystem.
