Abstract

This paper presents a 3-phase dual-path buck-boost converter that effectively reduces conduction loss by combining a dual-path topology with adaptive 3-phase control. The proposed control technique minimizes inductor current ripple, which allows the use of a low-inductance inductor with low DCR, while reducing the inductor current. Fabricated in a$0.13 \mu \mathrm{m}$CMOS process, the converter achieves a high peak-efficiency of 96.6% with a small$1.92 \text{mm}^{3}$inductor and 0402-size flying capacitors.
