Design and Fabrication of Wide-Angle Dual-Band Temperature-Controlled Absorption Metamaterial With Rotating-4F Micro–Nano-Structures
Abstract
These Absorbing metamaterials show potential in both civilian and military applications. The in-depth research on the sixth-generation mobile communication (6G) has also increased the attention on terahertz absorbing metamaterials. This article studies and fabricates a terahertz-range dual-band absorption metamaterial, which is composed of a copper substrate, silicon dioxide, vanadium dioxide, graphene, and a rotating-4F silver metal patterned structure. Based on the Finite Difference Time Domain (FDTD) method, it was found that there are two peaks at 4.984 THz and 6.629 THz, with peak values of 86.18% and 94.43% under direct incidence conditions. The experimentally prepared samples exhibited peak frequencies of 4.977 THz and 6.648 THz, with peak values of 86.62% and 94.33% under direct incidence conditions, respectively. The paper analyzes the reasons for the absorption resonance at these two absorption peak frequencies from the perspectives of excitation electric field distribution and impedance. This metamaterial also demonstrates two remarkable characteristics: a large absorption half-value angle and a significant sensitivity to temperature regulation. Owing to its absorption peak, peak frequency, absorption angle, and other attributes, this metamaterial promises to be a highly promising receiver for 6G communication.
