Analysis and Optimization for Head Shape of Langevin Transducer by Finite Element Method
Abstract
Langevin transducers, as important devices for generating acoustic fields, impose stringent acoustic characteristics requirements in many applications. Their head shape directly influences the acoustic characteristics, including acoustic pressure amplitude and beam angle. The study employed finite element method (FEM) to investigate the influence of the shape of a Langevin transducer head on its acoustic characteristics. First, the effects of head curvature and dimensions on acoustic field amplitude and angle were investigated. We chose two head models and investigated the effects of geometric parameters on the acoustic field. Then, a configuration-selective optimization (CSO) framework combining FEM models was proposed. This method can be used to inversely determine the head parameters that generate the target acoustic field. Simulation results demonstrate that the optimized head enhance the acoustic pressure amplitude and beam angle in the acoustic field, which provides a new approach to acoustic field optimization and acoustic source design.
