A Double-Layer Metasurface-Based Dual-Band Dual-Polarized Transmit-Reflect-Array Antenna
Abstract
A double-layer, dual-band, dual-polarized transmissive/reflective bifunctional metasurface is developed. The metasurface integrates a double-layer Huygens' structure with a reflective frequency-selective surfaces structure to achieve full-phase coverage for transmission at 26 GHz and reflection at 38 GHz. Then it is used for a dual-band dual-polarized transmit reflect-array bidirectional antenna design. A good agreement between the measured and simulated results is observed. For transmissive mode, a measured peak gain of 28.32 dBi is achieved at 26 GHz with an aperture efficiency of 43.05%, and 3-dB gain bandwidth of 10.46%. For reflective mode, a measured peak gain of 30.61 dBi is achieved at 38 GHz with an aperture efficiency of 34.19%, and 3-dB gain bandwidth of 7.97%.
