Dual-Band Dual-Polarized Shared-Aperture Metalens Empowered by a Rapid, Accurate Multi-Frequency Phase-Matching Algorithm
Abstract
A 3D-printed, dual-band, dual-polarized metasurface antenna is reported for high-capacity E-band and D-band communications. The aperture integrates a polarization converter with a dual-band transmissive metalens to produce right-hand circular polarization at E-band and linearly-polarized radiation at D-band. Their Phase profiles are synthesized through a novel sampling-point-based reference-phase search method utilizing a phase matching path with focal-ratio refinement. Multi-band reference phases are extracted from representative sampling-point evaluations along the phase matching path and subsequently applied to the entire aperture in a one-shot manner. This approach significantly reduces computational cost while ensuring a globally consistent reference phase across the metasurface. The full-wave simulations predict peak gains of 27.4 dBic (E-band) and 27.6 dBi (D-band) with 3-dB bandwidths of 32.5% and 17.8%, respectively. Measurement results show good agreement with simulations, confirming that the proposed antenna offers broad bandwidth, polarization diversity, and low loss, making it suitable for dual-band sub-THz backhaul high-speed links.
