Abstract

This work presents a compact, low-profile, and cost-effective gap waveguide leaky-wave antenna that enables beam steering at a fixed frequency. The key idea is to vary the waveguide width to tune the propagation constant, which in turn changes the pointing direction of the radiated main beam. Numerical simulations together with measurements have been carried out to validate the concept. The findings confirm that the antenna functions over the 14–16 GHz range, achieves a scanning angle of 50°, and delivers a maximum gain of 16.5 dBi.
