Abstract

An asymmetric antenna for mobile platforms is proposed, which introduces a novel application of the self-balancing balun concept to asymmetric structures for effective common-mode current (CMC) suppression. The antenna adopts a three‑element structure and realizes CMC suppression using the self‑balancing balun principle based on the voltage‑zero point. Quantitative evaluation of the suppression effect is performed within the operating band. Experimental results show that the prototype antenna achieves stable impedance matching over the 5.76–7.16 GHz band (|S₁₁| < −10 dB) and significantly suppresses CMC across the entire operating band. This work provides a reliable and novel CMC suppression scheme for asymmetric mobile platform antennas.
