Joint Transmit Beamforming, Antenna Positioning, and User Scheduling for Movable Antenna Communications
Abstract
Movable antenna (MA) technology has emerged as a paradigm-shifting solution for future wireless networks by enabling the dynamic reconfiguration of the wireless channel through precise antenna positioning. While existing research has demonstrated its potential for enhancing channel gain and spatial multiplexing, the critical aspect of user selection in multi-user systems remains largely unexplored. This work addresses the coupled challenge of jointly optimizing discrete antenna positions and user scheduling to maximize system performance. We propose two low-complexity iterative frameworks based on semi-orthogonal principles. The first framework focuses on joint selection for channel power maximization (CPM), while the second aims for channel orthogonalization (CO) to effectively suppress inter-user interference. Simulation results confirm that the proposed algorithms, particularly the CO-based approach, achieve a significant sum-rate gain compared to conventional schemes, offering an efficient pathway to unlock the full potential of MA-assisted communications.
