Abstract

This letter investigates utilization bounds for non-preemptive Rate Monotonic (RM) scheduling. Previous studies have shown that the blocking factor, defined as the ratio of maximum blocking time to execution time, is closely related to the utilization bound. Using this result, we show that the ratio between task periods affects the utilization bounds and present a new bound that is less pessimistic and complementary to existing analyses.
