A Decomposed RLGC Model for Fast Skew Evaluation of Fiber Weave Effect
Abstract
As the increase in data rate, the fiber weave effect (FWE) of substrates has attracted attention in recent years; however, the equivalent circuit model is still not well solved due to their extremely complicated 3-D physical structure. This letter presents a decomposed resistance, inductance, conductance and capacitance (RLGC) model to fast evaluate the impact of FWE on high-speed signals. The circuit model is generated directly from the physical dimensions of the transmission lines (TLs) and the parameters of the glass fiber. Compared to previous 3-D and 2-D physical modeling methods, the proposed method reduces computational complexity and saves a great deal of computing resources. The simulated results show high consistency with 3-D simulations by HFSS. The mean error of time skews of several glass types between HFSS, and the proposed model is 3.05%. The proposed method provides a promising method for fast FWE modeling.
