Abstract

A high-efficiency continuous inverse Class-GF (CICGF) power amplifier (PA) with linear enhancement performance is presented in this letter. Through in-depth analysis of the distribution characteristics of amplitude-to-amplitude (AM-AM) and amplitude-to-phase (AM-PM) in CICGF PAs, a way for promoting linearity employing input nonlinearity and continuous tuning factor$\delta $is explored under high-efficiency performance. As a theoretical validation, a high-efficiency and high-linearity CICGF PA is designed, fabricated, and measured. The test results show that within the frequency response range of 1.7–3.0 GHz, the achieved drain efficiency (DE) ranges from 64.2% to 75.5%. Furthermore, the linearity test results indicate that at 2.0 GHz, the fabricated PA achieved an AM-AM of 1.8dB and an AM-PM of −4°, and under the excitation of a 20-MHz 5G NR signal (with a peak-to-average power ratio of 6.5 dB), the adjacent channel power ratio (ACPR) is −34.1 dBc.
