Abstract

This letter investigates an active reconfigurable intelligent surface (ARIS)-assisted multiple-input single-output (MISO) communication system with hardware impairments (HWI) at both the transceiver and the ARIS, and proposes a robust design to maximize the secrecy rate (SR). Subject to the transmit power and the ARIS amplification constraints, we formulate a non-convex optimization problem and use an alternating optimization (AO) algorithm. The proposed algorithm leverages semidefinite relaxation (SDR) and successive convex approximation (SCA) to jointly optimize the transmit beamforming, the ARIS phase shift matrix and amplification matrix. Numerical simulations illustrate that the proposed algorithm effectively mitigates the effects of HWI and enhances secrecy performance.
