Integration of Sensing, Communication, and Computing for Satellite Consumer Applications
Abstract
This paper investigates the integration of satellite communication with sensing and computing to enable advanced consumer applications. We propose a unified framework based on multi-layered satellite networks (space, aerial, and terrestrial) to overcome limitations in terrestrial systems, such as coverage gaps, high latency, and resource constraints. To address the challenges of jointly integrating sensing, communication, and computing, we propose reinforcement learning-based resource scheduling and multimodal data fusion. Results show that integrated satellite systems can provide global coverage, low-latency services, and scalable resource utilization, thereby enabling transformative applications in autonomous driving, environmental monitoring, and smart cities. The findings pave the way for future research on the development of next-generation satellite-aided consumer applications, with future work focusing on real-time system prototyping and cross-layer optimization.
