Distributed Algorithms for Secure Multi-Sensor Signal Tracking in 6G Power Grids
Abstract
The advent of 6G networks introduces unprecedented capabilities, including sub-millisecond latency, ultra-reliable low-latency communications, and massive connectivity that will underpin future critical infrastructures. However, these advances also expand the attack surface, demanding new security and automation paradigms. This article presents a comprehensive standards-aligned architecture for secure and autonomous multi-sensor signal tracking in 6G power grids. We propose a layered framework integrating distributed edge intelligence, AI-driven Zero-Touch Networks (ZTNs), and standardized security mechanisms to enable resilient, real-time operations. A five-stage distributed workflow spanning sensor acquisition, edge pre-processing, local consensus, 6G orchestration, and authenticated control is mapped to key standardization frameworks including 3GPP TS 33.501, ITU-T Y.3072, ETSI ZSM, and IEC 61850. By embedding encryption, zero-trust protocols, anomaly detection, and policy-driven orchestration throughout the stack, the design achieves end-to-end security and interoperability. Implementation challenges such as ultra-low latency, legacy integration, regulatory compliance, and quantum-safe migration are discussed. This work provides a practical roadmap for secure, scalable, and standards-compliant 6G Zero-Touch deployments in future smart grids.
