Abstract

Low-altitude network (LAN), as the crucial intermediate layer of the space-air-ground-sea integrated network (SAGSIN), plays a pivotal role in achieving seamless connectivity and connected intelligence. The provision of ubiquitous intelligent services across these interconnected SAGSIN nodes requires the synergy of sensing, communication and computation to effectively acquire, share, and process information. This paper explores the challenges and opportunities associated with integrated sensing, communication, and computation (ISCC) within LAN, with a particular focus on how the ISCC-enabled LAN can upward support space network and strengthen the capabilities of lower-layer ground and sea networks in the SAGSIN. Specifically, challenges such as insufficient coverage and low accuracy in sensing, long distances and dynamic environments in communication, and limited resources with a lack of task-specific design in computation pose new obstacles in designing ISCC-empowered LANs for SAGSIN. We explain how the synergy among these three modules can tackle these issues and discuss the state-of-the-art solutions.
