Abstract

Reliability is a primary driver in the design of space systems. Mission assurance depends on accurately anticipating the space environments that the spacecraft will encounter and subjecting flight hardware to rigorous ground-based testing that replicates those environments prior to launch. This article provides an overview of ground-based testing methods and emerging reliability challenges.
