Design of Low-RCS Radiation-Scattering Integrated Antenna Based on Spatiotemporal Coding
Abstract
This paper presents a design of low radar cross section (RCS) radiation-scattering integrated antenna (RSIA) based on spatiotemporal coding, which achieves excellent radiation and scattering properties. The proposed RSIA is integrated by a planar tightly coupled antenna (PTCA) and a 1-bit reconfigurable metasurface (RMS). The PTCA is composed of a dipole and parasitic branches, and can effectively radiatex-polarized electromagnetic waves. From 5.3 to 12.6 GHz, the scanning angle of PTCA can reach ±45° in the E-plane and H-plane. The RMS and PTCA are integrated on the same plane and consist of three rectangular patches, on which a PIN diode is loaded. Fory-polarized vertically incident electromagnetic waves, the RMS can achieve a 180° reflection phase difference by controlling the on-off states of the PIN diodes. Fory-polarized plane waves with different incident angles, the RMS array can change its coding in real time to achieve effective monostatic radar cross section reduction (RCSR). When ay-polarized plane wave is normally incident, the RMS realizes the monostatic RCSR over 5 dB in the 8 - 13 GHz compared with a metal ground. In the 8.7 - 12.5 GHz, the maximum incident angle at which the RMS array can achieve a RCSR of more than 5 dB is 10°.
