Abstract

In this study, the characteristics and the parameters of a conductive cavity in which two of its walls are replaced by metasurface walls with printed conductive elements loaded with voltage control capacitors (VCC) are investigated. Metasurfaces are the 2D version of metamaterials and are designed as planar periodic structures with unit cell (UC) size of less than 0.1λ. The analysis results show the variation in the cavity modes field distribution, resonant frequencies and the quality factor as a function of the reactive loading of the metasurface in comparison to the same parameters for a conductive copper cavity.
