Transmitter and Receiver Design for Wideband MIMO MFRF Systems
Abstract
This paper focuses on the joint design of transmit waveforms and receive filters for wideband multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) multifunction radio frequency (MFRF) system, which simultaneously supports wideband radar sensing, narrowband communication, and precise jamming. The primary purpose is to improve the wideband target detection performance through maximizing the target signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio (SINR) in the presence of signal-dependent clutter. To achieve narrowband communications and precise jamming, we constrain the communication SINR in the frequency domain and the jamming to-distortion-ratio (JDR) to a high value to minimize the matching error of the synthesized signals. To efficiently design the MFRF waveforms, an alternating direction method of multiplier algorithm is developed to tackle the resultant non-convex problem. Numerical results show that the waveforms synthesized by the proposed algorithm can improve the target detection performance, synthesize communication signals and jamming signals over the pre scribed direction and frequency region, and thus support multiple functions simultaneously. Compared with the competing method, the proposed algorithm exhibits significantly lower computational complexity, enabling more efficient design of transmit waveforms.
