A Tracking Mode Selection Scheme for Multiple Target Tracking in Multiple Radar Systems
Abstract
Existing resource allocation methods typically model adaptable radar parameters as continuous optimization variables, which may mismatch with discrete radar tracking modes setting, and prove challenging for practical implementation. To promote the application of resource management methods, this paper designs a tracking mode selection scheme (TMSS) for multiple radar systems (MRS), where tracking mode selection adjusts the tracking capabilities of the radar systems by altering their power parameters. The proposed approach primarily formulates an integer optimization model to select suitable tracking modes, thereby changing power resources to enhance the efficiency of limited resource utilization. We first define the discrete tracking modes of radars based on power resources and establish a tracking accuracy evaluation criterion by incorporating these modes into the Bayesian Cramér Rao Lower Bound. By adopting the discrete performance metric, the mode selection problem is constructed as an integer optimization model to balance power consumption with accuracy. A two-step method including relaxation and rounding techniques utilizes the resource utilization characteristics of the various tracking modes to attain efficient solutions to the tracking mode selection problem. Experimental results demonstrate that the TMSS adapts to the discrete tracking modes of MRS, achieving better balance between power resource conservation and solution efficiency.
