Abstract

The increasing complexity of operational environments demands advanced electronic systems capable of performing multiple functions concurrently. This paper proposes a detection and jamming integrated waveform (DJIW) design method to achieve simultaneous target location and countermeasures against non-cooperative radar (NCR). The proposed method employs pulse coding to modulate the intercepted NCR waveforms for retransmission. The coherence between pulses is disrupted to achieve Doppler jamming against the NCR, and the jamming effect is determined by the Fourier spectral characteristics of the pulse coding. Different pulse coding schemes are studied to generate both deceptive and suppressive jamming effects. For detection purpose, matched filtering is employed to enhance the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), and estimation approaches for Doppler frequency and range region number are proposed. The parameter estimation performance is assessed using the Cramér-Rao bound (CRB) and the Ziv-Zakai bound (ZZB). Meanwhile, a direct wave suppression method is introduced to mitigate the interference in target echoes. A comprehensive pulse coding optimization framework is formulated to jointly optimize jamming and detection performance, and its computational complexity is thoroughly analyzed. Simulation examples are provided to demonstrate both the jamming capability and detection performance of the proposed DJIW. Comparative studies with other existing methods further confirm its overall superiority in terms of both jamming and detection effectiveness.
