Abstract

In this communication, a wideband full-wave magneto-electric (ME) dipole antenna is proposed as a high-gain feed source for millimete-rwave (mmWave) metalens applications. Distinct from conventional halfwave ME dipoles, the proposed design supports full-wave resonant modes that substantially enlarge the effective radiating aperture. This mechanism overcomes the inherent gain limitations of half-wave ME dipoles while preserving their characteristic wideband operation and stable radiation patterns. The feed source is implemented on a two-layer PCB and experimentally validated over the Ka-band. When integrated with a wideband transmissive metalens, the proposed feed enables broadband impedance matching, high realized gain, and high aperture efficiency in a compact form factor. Experimental results demonstrate that the full-wave ME dipole offers an effective, low-profile alternative to bulky horn antennas for high-performance mmWave systems.
