Abstract

The stability and efficiency of energy grids stand out as the most critical component in smart city infrastructures in regard to sustainability and resource optimization in urban development. Nonetheless, the existing systems of energy grids do not provide any adaptive predictive system that could be dynamic in responding to high-speed changes in renewable sources and consumer demand, which lead to inefficiencies and possible instabilities. With a view to addressing such gaps, this article proposes the transition of an Adaptive Quantum Attention Transformer (AQAT) framework with a quantum augmented attention mechanism. AQAT is combined with state-of-the-art transformer-based neural networks to use real-time energy grid optimization. To perform the real-time operation, AQAT makes use of quantum-inspired attention blocks to dynamically balance the energy demand and supply series. This enables the identification of significant stability points within a short time and the optimal resultant redistribution of load is established. In addition, AQAT uses high-resolution data of consumer behavior profiles, such as appliance clusters, EV charging profiles, and residential load profiles, through spatiotemporal embeddings on grid-level optimization and stability decisions. With the intensive simulation on complex simulation urban grid scenarios, AQAT made considerable performance gains, such as 43 percent decreased curtailment energy events, 35 percent diminished frequency deviations as well as 92 percent of the forecasting accuracy associated with the grid stability, which set a new standard in the energy management systems of smart cities. Moreover, to facilitate real-time optimization that is proposed in smart cities, in addition to stabilizing dynamic energy grids, the AQAT framework also takes advantage of smart spatiotemporal data analytics applicable to urban ecosystems incorporating consumer electronics.
