A Compact Dynamic Wireless Charging System for Autonomous Consumer Platforms
Abstract
This paper proposes a dynamic wireless power transfer (DWPT) system featuring a novel LLCC-S compensation topology integrated with a unipolar-embedded double D (UEDD) coupling structure. The proposed UEDD pads combine unipolar rectangular transmitter coils (Tx) and bipolar separated DD compensating coils (Dx) in a compact nested layout, enabling efficient and resilient energy transfer. The LLCC-S compensation topology employs DD coils as resonant elements to provide enhanced tolerance to misalignment, load variations, and mutual inductance (MI) fluctuations. The system is designed to simultaneously achieve constant voltage (CV) output, zero phase angle (ZPA) input, and a stable transmitter coil current, independent of load resistance and receiver (Rx) coil position. Experimental results demonstrate that the proposed system maintains output voltage fluctuations within ± 2.2%, achieving a maximum output power of 334 W and a peak dc-dc efficiency of 89.6% under load resistances ranging from 20 Ω to 50 Ω andRxmisalignment up to ± 200 mm. These findings validate the system’s high robustness and suitability for dynamic applications such as autonomous robotic platforms, smart appliances, and mobile devices.
