Abstract

This paper presents a High-Gain Quadratic Boost Converter (HGQBC) introduced to achieve higher voltage gain, reduced MOSFET voltage stress, and continuous input current while maintaining a common ground. The converter produces the required voltage gain at a lower duty ratio, making it suitable for renewable energy applications. Analysis is carried out with and without parasitic effects, and the voltage gain equations are obtained. The component selection, loss analysis, efficiency assessment, and the transfer function are presented, along with detailed comparisons with existing converters. To further enhance the performance, silicon carbide (SiC) devices are employed in the prototype. Experimental results indicate that the HGQBC attains a voltage gain of 7.96 at a duty ratio of 30.72% with an efficiency of 94.31%, and the transient response of the prototype confirms the reliable operation of the converter.
