Low Copper Loss High-Resistance Connection Fault Tolerant Method in Five-Phase PMSM With Current and Voltage Reconfiguration
Abstract
The high-resistance connection (HRC) fault in the five-phase permanent magnet synchronous motor (PMSM) leads to increased copper losses and reduced efficiency due to impedance imbalance. The impedance model under HRC fault is incorporated into the proposed fault-tolerant control method. A current and voltage reconfiguration is also adopted with the constraint of minimizing copper loss (MCL). Additionally, the maximization of torque output range with low copper loss (MTMCL) constraint is also proposed for more torque output capability. Combined with the above two constraints and proposed fault tolerant control method, a fault tolerant coefficient switching strategy following electromagnetic torque is also summarized for minimization copper loss without overheating. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed control method achieves a significant reduction in copper loss compared to original method.
