Abstract

An improved magnetic circuit (MC) method is proposed in this article. This method enables quick modeling and computation in the interior permanent magnet synchronous motor (IPMSM). The key improvement is that a new magnetic motive forces setting approach is proposed. This approach can eliminate the need for manual assignment, thereby facilitating the modeling process for any complex structure. Besides, the simplified magnetic reluctance model and network are given. They are suitable for the new setting approach and can reduce the complexity of modeling. Then, the reluctance network matrix equations are rebuilt to match the new approach. The iteration variable of the equations is modified to accelerate convergence and to prevent iteration divergence. Lastly, the effectiveness of the proposed MC method is verified by the simulation and experiment. The proposed MC method enhances the adaptability and applicability of existing MC methods. It can accurately calculate the magnetic field and performance parameters of IPMSM and is beneficial for optimization design.
