Multiobjective Optimization With Minimum Output Error and Maximum Efficiency for WPT Systems Based on Discrete Neighborhood Search–Model Predictive Control Scheme
Abstract
Traditional control schemes for wireless power transfer (WPT) systems struggle to achieve zero voltage switching (ZVS), output stability, and efficiency optimization simultaneously. To address this limitation, this article proposes a discrete neighborhood search–model predictive control (DNS-MPC) strategy for multiobjective optimization in inductor-capacitor-capacitor-series (LCC-S) compensated WPT systems, addressing three critical requirements: output regulations, transmission efficiency maximization, and ZVS realization. First, a mathematical model of the WPT system is developed based on circuit analysis. The derived expressions are then used to identify the operating regions that ensure ZVS across all power switches. Second, a composite cost function is formulated to systematically coordinate voltage tracking precision and power loss minimization. Third, the DNS-MPC strategy is developed to simultaneously achieve precise output voltage regulation, high efficiency, and ZVS operation over a wide load range without auxiliary circuits. Experimental validation under multiple operating points (80/100/120 V references) demonstrates consistent performance: the maximum voltage fluctuation is limited to 0.26 V, peak efficiency reaches 93.92%, and efficiency variation remains within 4.22% and ensures ZVS operation. Additional tests under coil misalignment confirm robust operation with efficiency above 89%, and detailed loss analysis shows that system losses were reduced by 29.1%, 25.22%, and 38.99% at load resistances of 20, 50, and 100Ω, respectively.
