Abstract

To overcome the limitation of single-layer metasurfaces in achieving a large quiet zone under a small focal-to-diameter (F/D) ratio, this communication proposes a 3D-printed transmitarray for compact antenna test range applications. The proposed transmitarray is composed of cross-shaped all-dielectric metasurface cells, providing full 360° phase coverage. Drawing inspiration from the Fresnel zone plate concept, the single-layer metasurface collimator modulates the phase of incident waves while further optimizing the aperture distribution to generate a uniform near-field electric field amplitude distribution and equalize the phase, thus forming a planar-wave quiet zone. The developed system achieves a low F/D ratio of 0.6 and supports a quiet zone of nearly 50% of the total metasurface aperture. The metasurface structure is fabricated via 3D printing, and both simulation and experimental results validate its performance in generating a planar-wave quiet zone in the near field. This approach offers a practical solution for streamline measurement of U6G mass-produced devices.
