Abstract

Using a bridge circuit to determine the ratio of two impedances has traditionally been done by first bringing the bridge into balance, and then observing the ratio between two known branch arms, which is equated with the ratio between the remaining two branch arms. In this work we show an alternate method to determine the ratio between the two unknown branch arms which does not require iterative balancing. Rather only two off-balance measurements are required to obtain an accurate result. As with the on-balance technique, excitation amplitude and detector impedance have no direct influence on the result, which is purely ratiometric.
