Monodisperse CoFe 2 O 4 Nanocubes: Influence of Particle Size on the Magnetic Properties
Abstract
Monodisperse CoFe₂O₄ nanocubes with edge lengths of approximately 9, 13, and 16 nm were synthesized via thermal decomposition to investigate the influence of particle size on their magnetic properties. Magnetic characterization was carried out using SQUID magnetometry, including measurements ofM(H)andM(T)curves under Zero-Field Cooling (ZFC) and Field Cooling (FC) conditions. Structural analysis was performed using transmission electron microscopy (TEM), energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX) and X-ray diffraction (XRD). From the collected data, key magnetic parameters such as coercivity, remanent and saturation magnetization and magnetocrystalline anisotropy constant were extracted and quantitatively compared across the different particle sizes. The results demonstrate a size dependence of the magnetic behavior, which is discussed in the context of tailoring of magnetic materials for future biomedical applications, including magnetic hyperthermia.
