Control and Management of a Multiport DC–DC Converter With Wireless Power Link Applicable for PV-Battery Systems
Abstract
This paper presents a multiport DC converter with a wireless power port based on an LCL resonant network, applicable to PV-battery systems. The technical barriers to integrated photovoltaic systems focus mainly on PV maximum power point tracking (MPPT) and load power regulation. The proposed topology aims to reduce the cost and improve the sustainability of the PV-battery system by proposing a partially isolated multiport converter (MPC). The MPPT for photovoltaic power has been achieved by introducing the pulse width modulation (PWM) method, which also allows for load current regulation under the condition of inactive photovoltaic power. Additionally, an LCL resonant air-coupling network is adopted to enable power transfer and energy isolation between the PV battery connection and the load port, while also providing a flexible and contactless wireless power interface that supports autonomous operation scenarios. The theoretical analysis based on the system operation modes has been proposed in detail. Both a simulation model and a 150 W experimental prototype have been built to verify the performance of the proposed topology. The results have successfully evaluated the system function and showed that the proposed MPC can effectively achieve MPPT regardless of the changes in the maximum power point of the photovoltaic or load condition.
