A Soft-Switching Multi-Resonant Switched-Capacitor Converter for Data Center Applications
Abstract
In recent years, the rapid development of information technology has led to increasing power supply pressure on data centers. In this application scenarios, resonant switched-capacitor converters that can achieve high efficiency and power density have become an indispensable part of data center power supply systems. This paper proposes a high voltage step-down ratio resonant switched-capacitor converter. The construction method of this converter topology can also provide strong support for the construction of other step-down ratio high performance RSC topologies. After detailed modal design in this paper, the proposed converter can operate in two different soft switching modes, ZCS and ZVS, which is of great significance for improving the efficiency of the converter. In order to ensure the optimal operation of the converter, this paper uses the state-plane analysis method to conduct in-depth analysis of the resonant state of the converter, and based on this, guides the design of various parameters. In order to verify the theoretical analysis, a 48-to-6 V experimental prototype with 60 A output current for data center applications is built in the laboratory. The prototype can ultimately achieve a peak efficiency of 98.2% and a power density of 1714 W/in3, demonstrating good overall performance.
