Dual Winding Decoupling Control Strategy for Dual Three-Phase Motor Steer-by-Wire System to Suppress High-Frequency Disturbances and Noise
Abstract
To suppress the high-frequency disturbance and noise in steer-by-wire (SbW) system induced by electromechanical coupling and road excitations, this paper proposes a dual winding functional decoupling scheme based on a dual three phase permanent magnet synchronous motor and develops a new SbW architecture that innovatively integrates active damping control. The configuration uses (i) an excitation winding for steering angle tracking and (ii) a damping winding that generates active damping forces to attenuate high frequency disturbances. Since the angle and damping forces evolve on different time scales, the architecture is modeled as a singularly perturbed (two time scale) system that separates slow steering angle tracking from fast high frequency suppression. On the slow time scale, a coordinated suppression framework combining Complementary Ensemble empirical mode decomposition and an extended state observer is designed, and a nonsingular fast terminal sliding mode controller is employed to track the steering angle while rejecting sensor noise and low frequency disturbances. On the fast time scale, a critic-network based optimal active damping controller is constructed on the damping winding to mitigate high frequency dynamics. Experiments demonstrate that the proposed dual time scale, dual-function SbW configuration achieves higher steering tracking accuracy and markedly improved suppression of sensor noise and high-frequency disturbances.
