Abstract

This work reports on the formation of unique structures of rotating plasma with a low-intense core in the presence of magnetic fields. Apart from the formation of rotating lobe structures of plasma, there is also a variation in the number of lobes formed due to pressure dependence. The high-speed imaging shows that some form of symmetry is established or formed in the plasma structure development for different pressures. The tangential velocity of rotation decreases with an increase in pressure, and this explains the appearance of different numbers of lobes with pressure. This rotation velocity varies from ~(3.6--1.6) km/s with increasing plenum pressures. This is an initial observation reported on rotating plasma produced in plasma accelerators and its dependence on gas pressure and interaction with magnetic fields.
