Abstract

Various power management systems for microgrids (MGs) integrated with electric vehicle (EV) charging stations (CSs) have been designed so far, each addressing different aspects of grid-connected or off-grid operation. However, no previous research has developed multi-objective power management schemes that encompass all possible operating modes, including MG operation with the grid (G) without CS, CS operation with G without MG, MG-CS integrated operation with G, MG and CS autonomous operation in off-grid mode, and the interaction between MG and CS without G. In this article, innovative multi-functional power management strategies utilizing centralized control system have been modeled and designed for the aforementioned operational modes and simulated in the time-domain nonlinear environment of the MATLAB-SIMULINK. The results indicate the effective performance of different schemes in various operational states.
