Abstract

The operation of multi-energy microgrid (MEMG) is threatened by random failures and uncertainties in renewable energy sources (RESs) and loads. This paper proposes a systematic approach for secure operation of MEMG by coordinating preventive control (PC) and corrective control (CC) under diverse uncertainties. First, a day-ahead three-stage stochastic PC-CC coordinated optimization model is proposed to determine day-ahead PC measures while considering CC to address potential contingencies. Then, as uncertainties gradually unfold, an intra-day rolling PC-CC coordinated optimization model is developed to iteratively obtain intra-day PC measures accounting for potential near-term contingencies. When a contingency really occurs, the CC optimization is activated to determine CC measures. Furthermore, a contingency probability model that considers weather conditions and component aging is established. Contingency impact is quantified and embedded in optimization models. Third, a two-step sampling method is proposed for scenario generation, capturing uncertainties and temporal correlation of RESs, loads and failures. A scenario-based decomposition method employing the progressive hedging (PH) algorithm is developed to solve the day-ahead model. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed approach reduces security control costs by 34.92%-45.90% over methods limited to PC or CC alone and improves computation efficiency by 2.20 times.
