Abstract

The traction inverter has been extensively investigated owing to its critical role in ensuring reliable drive system performance. With the increasing emphasis on semiconductor power loss suppression, this paper proposes a power-loss-minimized PWM (PLMPWM) strategy. A discrete computational framework is established for IGBT power loss estimation, with particular consideration of the load dynamics in asynchronous traction motors. The proposed method aligns the fundamental amplitude of the output voltage with the reference value, while simultaneously minimizing IGBT power losses through optimized switching angles. Hardware experimental results verify that the proposed strategy effectively reduces junction temperature and overall power loss.
