Abstract

This paper proposes a high step-up converter with significant improvements in voltage gain, voltage stresses, and efficiency. The presented converter has two distinctive features that enhance efficiency and reduce volume. Firstly, the proposed converter achieves fully soft switching conditions independent of the magnetizing inductance current ripple, thereby minimizing magnetic core loss. Secondly, the converter improves voltage gain and reduces the switch voltage stress by lowering the coupled inductors turns ratio, resulting in low magnetic component loss and a compact design at high voltage gains. This converter effectively mitigates switching and capacitive turn-on losses and addresses the diode reverse recovery problem. The converter is thoroughly analyzed and compared with other counterparts. Additionally, the presented experimental results of a 200W laboratory prototype with an efficiency of about 98% validate the converter advantages.
