Abstract

The bidirectional interleaved dc-dc converter for hybrid energy storage systems suffers from various uncertainties and disturbances, especially the uncertainties related to the number of active phases and the disturbance associated with electrochemical impedance spectroscopy, which can severely challenge bus voltage regulation. Against this background, this paper proposes an adaptive robust voltage controller for a dc-dc bidirectional interleaved converter for hybrid energy storage systems, based on the framework of active disturbance rejection control (ADRC). Within the proposed method, the enhanced disturbance rejection ability can be configured at the desired frequency. Meantime, the parameter of the system control gain is adapted in real time to update the plant model to reduce the burden of disturbance estimation. The proposed controller is elaborated and then evaluated in terms of disturbance estimation, disturbance rejection, and system stability. Finally, the acquired experimental results demonstrate that the proposed adaptive controller achieves better voltage regulation under uncertainties and disturbances in comparison with the conventional ADRC method.
