Partially Linearized Flux Model for Fast High-Fidelity Simulation of Dual Three-Phase PMSM Drive
Abstract
This paper presents a generalized, high-fidelity flux model for dual three-phase permanent magnet synchronous motors (DTP-PMSMs) applicable to both in-phase and 30°-shifted winding configurations. High-fidelity simulation of DTP-PMSMs requires a four-dimensional (4D) flux map; however, the highly complex inverse operation needed to generate a functional look-up table (LUT) from this map is a significant pre-processing challenge. Furthermore, the resulting 4D LUT is impractical for real-time applications due to its large memory footprint and the computational burden of complex interpolation. To address these issues, a partially linearized framework is proposed. The method preserves the critical nonlinear characteristics, such as magnetic saturation and spatial harmonics, by utilizing a two-dimensional (2D) LUT based on pre-derived flux data for the dominant average current, while a linear approximation is applied only to the differential current which has a minor effect on the magnetic behavior. This approach effectively reduces the dimensionality of the inverse problem from four to two, significantly lowering both the offline computational effort and the real-time memory requirements. The validity and effectiveness of the generalized framework are thoroughly verified through simulation and hardware-based experiments.
