A Partitioned Stator Flux Switching PM Machine with Strongly Coupled Flux Reversal Effect
Abstract
The partitioned stator flux-switching permanent magnet (PS-FSPM) machine integrates the advantages of a stator PM machine and a magnetically geared machine, while providing sufficient spatial utilization of both the inner and outer stators. This paper investigates a PS-FSPM machine featuring radially magnetized PMs alternately arranged in the outer stator. With identical winding and rotor configurations, the PMs in the inner and outer stators produce flux-switching and flux-reversal effects, respectively. Through equivalent magnetic circuit analysis, the strong coupling of flux linkage under both effects is demonstrated. The torque harmonic characteristics and torque-generation mechanisms under load conditions are further analyzed, clarifying the underlying principles of torque enhancement. Furthermore, a parameterized model is established, and global optimization is carried out for both the proposed and regular machines using the Non-dominated Sorting Genetic Algorithm II to obtain optimal parameter values. The comparative results of the four machines indicate that the proposed PS-FSPM machine exhibits the best performance in terms of torque, power factor, and efficiency. Finally, a prototype of the proposed machine is fabricated, and the experimental results show good agreement with the FEA predictions.
