Information Concealment by Constellation Rotation Toward Secure Communication
Abstract
A new strategy is proposed for delivering confidential information through information hiding, utilizing amplitude and phase (AP) as well as spatial constellation shifts. This strategy enables the transmitter to selectively send confidential information to certain intended receivers while hiding it from the unintended ones. More specifically, we develop a pair of confidential information transmission schemes, namely phase shift keying based confidential information transmission (PSK-CIT) and space shift keying based confidential information transmission (SSK-CIT), characterized by utilizing AP and spatial constellation shifts, respectively. Furthermore, we combine PSK-CIT and SSK-CIT into a hybrid scheme, known as spatial modulation based confidential information transmission (SM-CIT), for the sake of increasing the rate of confidential information transmission. Then, we provide the associated theoretical average bit-error rate (BER) analysis to demonstrate the effectiveness of these techniques. Finally, our simulation results reveal that the proposed schemes are capable of achieving a BER performance comparable to that of their conventional counterparts while minimizing the detection probability of confidential information at the unintended receivers.
