An Improved Scheduling Scheme for Layered Decoding of 5G LDPC Codes
Abstract
In this letter, an improved scheduling scheme is proposed for the layered decoding of 5 G LDPC codes. Specifically, two novel techniques are introduced. Firstly, the delayed update of core matrix (DUCM) is proposed which can be incorporated with any layered-based scheduling schemes to improve error-correction performance. Secondly, a semi-dynamic scheduling scheme (SDSS) is developed which can outperform existing static ones at the cost of negligible complexity. Finally, extensive simulations are performed. The results show that, by combining above two techniques, the derived SDSS-DUCM scheme can significantly improve the error-correction performance and reduce the average number of iterations (ANI), compared with the state-of-the-art scheduling scheme.
