Abstract

Marking the 150th anniversary of Jung's birth, this volume publishes, for the first time, the complete interviews behind Memories, Dreams, Reflections.Conducted by Aniela Jaffé in 1957, when Jung was 81, the conversations reveal a more candid, wide-ranging, and self-reflective Jung than the edited memoir allowed. He discusses encounters with Freud, William James, and Einstein, as well as his visions, religious experiences, and the formation of his key ideas-the collective unconscious, archetypes, anima and animus, and the shadow.Edited and annotated by Sonu Shamdasani, the book restores omitted passages and includes unpublished letters, offering a vivid portrait of Jung's wit, humility, and creative discovery in the closing years of his life.
