Abstract

ABSTRACT In the present study, to investigate the effects of temperature and principal stress ratio on the multiaxial creep rupture time of AISI 304 stainless steel, creep tests were conducted under various principal stress ratios at 650°C and 700°C. Furthermore, to validate the applicability of the destructive creep damage evaluation method—the A ‐parameter approach—for multiaxial creep‐damaged specimens, creep damage evaluation was performed and the feasibility of the approach was confirmed. The results indicate that von Mises equivalent stress can be employed to evaluate creep rupture time under multiaxial at 650°C, by contrary, Hayhurst equivalent stress exhibit the highest performance at 700°C. Based on the creep void observed outcomes, it is concluded that A ‐parameter is applicable for evaluating creep damage under pure torsion and combined tension/torsion multiaxial loading conditions.
