Abstract

We thank the reader for their insightful comments on our systematic review and meta-analysis entitled 'Effects of menthol on thirst during surgery patients fasting: A systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled studies' (Wang et al., 2025).We provide the following responses and corrections to the reader's comments. In response to the reader's comments, we first note that all included studies in our research reported obtaining appropriate ethical approvals and informed consent. We next reviewed the original literature. The study by Garcia et al. (2019) included participants aged 12-65 years, while our systematic review's inclusion criteria specified adult patients (≥ 18 years). We attempted to contact the original authors via email to obtain the raw data for reanalysis; however, we regrettably did not receive a response from the authors of Garcia et al. (2019).Consequently, we have excluded the study by Garcia et al. (2019) and reconducted the analyses of the systematic review excluding all content related to Garcia et al. (2019).The corrected results require the following corrected text
