Abstract

Summary Systems‐based dietetics practice is both an imperative and a transformational opportunity to strengthen the profession's ability to respond effectively to complex nutrition and health challenges of the 21stcentury. Strengthening systems science, systems thinking, and systems practice through education, professional development, and standards of practice enhances practitioners' problem solving, decision‐making, quality and safety improvement efforts, and leadership in complex environments. The Systems‐Based Dietetic Practice (SBDP) Framework is a starting point for building collective systems literacy and guiding practitioners in navigating complex challenges, applying systems thinking methods across research, education, practice and policy, and driving innovative strategic action.
